I want to install lineage OS on my Poco F1. It is Android 11.
Hardware is still pretty fast, but manufacturer is no long making
updates for it. Do I have to set my google account to decrypt?
If so - how do I do this?
Are there any other accounts I have to decrypt and after
lineage OS 18.1 do I have to setup my Gmail account again
by encrypting it?
I want to install google Play store as well how do I do this?

Also Nokia X50 pro UK release date?

Not sure what you mean by decrypt/encrypt your google account?

The Poco F1 instructions are here
<https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/beryllium/install>

You don't need to, but will likely want to install Open GApps since you say you
use Play Store and GMail

Andy, if I install lineage OS and open G app's. Can I still recover my
G mail / Goggle account?
Because it contains all phone numbers and data?

Just add the google account in settings, same as you would if you added a tablet
or second mobile phone to the account, nothing needs "recovering", just because
it's running lineageos rather than a manufacturer's firmware makes no difference.

Thanks Andy. I am backing up my data from the phone. I was surprised

It's a long time (OG Nexus 10) since I installed a 3rd party ROM + gapps, I
think I went for one of the smaller (mini or micro) variants and then installed
anything else I wanted from the Play Store afterwards.

But that's related to encryption of your phone's flash storage, nothing to do
with google or gmail accounts ...

If you're installing LineageOS, I don't think you have much choice but to do a
factory reset to unlock it and wipe it as part of the process.

Cheers Andy,

I can really see why Apple is making such a huge amount of money.
Xiaomi make it so difficult to even unlock the boot loader. I need to
do this to install lineage OS. I am hopefully wrong that I do not have
to go through this palava to get my boot loader unlocked just to flash
as new Rom.
I have a Mi account, can log into it via Firefox (https://i.mi.com/)
But when I try to access my Xiaomi cloud on my phone, I try to set
"find device",
which as far as I know is needed to unlock my bootloader, it says my
password is wrong. This is the same password for https://i.mi.com

Cheers Andy, my head hurts. I will try to unlock boot loader later on.

The bootloader*must* be locked, otherwise anybody, who has physical
access to your phone, even if it's screen-locked with a PIN code etc.,
could install things like TWRP in the recovery partition, boot to that
and access all the user's data, not good.
So a locked bootloader is a mandatory security feature.
But the O/P has to be "approved" by Xiaomi to unlock his boot loader, Google
don't do that, they simply ensure that if you unlock it, the phone is wiped so
there is no longer any data capable of being accessed.

Yes, many vendors have similar 'approval' procedures. My Huawei had as
well [1]. Perhaps Google is even the odd one out.

[1] I used a (paid) third-party service to unlock its bootloader.

Yes it is. As manufacturer even made a utility to un-lock boot loader.
Hopefully it works.
Let us know if it doesn't work. I might have a (paid) alternative.
Thanks a lot. I will.

I installed the Google Play store on my Amazon Fire tablets that run the
Fire OS. The Fire OS is a mobile operating system based on the Android
Open Source Project and created by Amazon for its Fire tablets. They
come with only the Amazon Appstore which IMO is quite inferior to the
Play Store. It required sideloading 4 files and installing them in
order. It took me less than ten minutes. All my later downloaded Google
account apps synced as well. This or something similar might work on
your phone.
